Effective Digital Twin-Assisted Nutrition for Elite Sports

EDEN, led by Espacio SOA (ESOA) in partnership with the University of Extremadura (UEx), addresses scalability and performance challenges in the sports nutrition platform MunchFit®: Eat to Fit. MunchFit currently provides advanced, fully personalised nutrition plans for athletes and fitness enthusiasts; however, it faces significant computational bottlenecks, as the generation of thousands of unique plans requires several days, thereby limiting user experience and constraining market scalability. EDEN proposes the integration of HPC technologies to parallelise and optimise the MunchFit backend, enabling substantial performance improvements (reducing processing time from approximately three days to under one minute for 30,000 plans).

This HPC foundation is a prerequisite for the development of My Digital MunchFit (MyDM), a next-generation AI-assisted Human Nutrition Digital Twin (HNDT). MyDM will integrate AI agents, multimodal food logging (voice, images, sensors), and adaptive digital twin simulations to enable real-time coaching, performance optimisation, recovery guidance, and injury prevention for both elite and amateur athletes.
